Song To Song
The movie is a “modern love story” which stars various well-known actors including Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman. This love story, set in Austin, Texas is rather a complicated one when the protagonists find themselves struggling while trying to become successful “through a rock n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal”.
To many, it might have came as a surprise that the movie featured various artist cameos, including Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Black Lips and…Josh Klinghoffer along with his Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates. This romantic drama, which was out in theaters March 17 this year, has received many reviews and critiques such as a 6.8/10 from IMDb and also an 8/10 from Filmweb. On the well-known website “Rotten Tomatoes”, which consists of numerous film reviews from various critics and movie goers, top critics have mixed reviews for “Song To Song”. Colin Covert of the “Minneapolis Star Tribune” mentions “it’s a haunting, doleful meditation on sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, the type of movie that can deeply move you and leave you wondering why.” Another top critic Mick LaSalle from the “San Francisco Chronicle” who simply said the film “Song to Song” is Terrence Malick’s first truly awful film.” Either way, whether you would agree with either critic, it is one film every Josh Klinghoffer and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ fan cannot miss.
Josh Klinghoffer’s work has been featured in movies like 2013’s “Don John” and documentary films like 2011’s “Bob and the Monster”. Who knows, maybe we will see Josh Klinghoffer featured in many more films in the upcoming years? Meanwhile, do not forget to check out “Song To Song”.
